JUDGES
1. Variety
The winning player must demonstrate a strong level of comfort in all forms of the sport. The judges are looking for a CREATIVE combination of floor, standing, foot, head and body tricks. Innovation and originality is critical to win this element of the game. Variety judge should be a traditional soccer player who is clearly briefed by the control judge about the variety of moves in the sport of freestyle soccer.
2. Control / Technical
This is the element for the technical side of the sport. Difficulty, uniqueness and quality of execution are the core ingredients of control. Sloppy, out of control execution will work against the player. “Make it or break it”. This element should judged by a freestyle soccer player, as they know best what is new, difficult, basic and controlled. This judge must disqualify any player from the win for using hands in any case outside the accepted terms (start of a routine, or to stop a bad pass). Caution should be taken when selecting this individual, as they may vote their “crew” (friend) as the winner. Non-biased judge is critical and most important.
3. Style / Energy and Rhythm (we want a SHOW!)
Style is as valuable as creativity and control. Good style appears effortless and smooth. A natural connection with the opponent, crowd and music is important . Fun reaction, improvisation and entertainment (having fun) are elements of the style. Style should be judged by dancer or other relevant opinion leader.*
*Red Bull Street Style was inspired by the International B-Boy event, Red Bull BC1. It comes from the street and should be considered a game for the sport of freestyle soccer.
