OUTSIDER DAN CUTTING WINS IN THIRD ROUND QUALIFIER IN NOTTINGHAM, UK
Located under the grimey Broadmarsh Underpass, the third stop of Red Bull Street Style arrived in Nottingham on Saturday. In a city famous for being the home of Robin Hood, Saturday’s Red Bull Street Style win was stolen by little known in the scene freestyler Dan Cutting, who had a clean sweep against the 6 other freestylers competing at the event.
The event opened in David and Goliath style with the first battle between Dan and 11 year old Patrick Edwards, who impressed the crowds and freestylers alike with his talent and creativity. 21 battles later and in to the semi finals, lowers expert Tom Folan and sit down king Jack Gregory battled for a place in the final, whilst Dan and Patrick met again to see Tom and Dan go through to the final.
Pulling trick after trick the final looked like it was Tom’s for the taking until Dan pulled out a few signature moves that he had clearly been saving for the final, including combinations of flares and a double backflip, which sealed his win, by allowing him to take both creativity and style in the judging.
Results:
1st Dan Cutting
2nd Tom Folan
3rd Jack Gregory
Dan, Tom and Jack will meet again in the final in Camden’s St Michaels Church on Saturday 21st November, and will be joined by the 6 ballers who have already qualified, plus 4 wildcards.
