LOOKING FOR THE BEST TRICKS

Portugal makes its debut in the Competition: Entries have already opened.

In 2010 the magic of international football is back at the highest level. Reinforcing this current of enthusiasm, the Red Bull Street Style promises to leave a strong mark. Involving more than 60 countries, this movement culminates in a grand finale in South Africa. Portugal is in for the first time and registrations are now open!

In addition to the game which involves millions of fans around the world, football still hides a more artistic side that is practiced in the streets, yards and schools at any time of day or night. The discovery of these hidden talents is one of the main objectives of the Red Bull Street Style, a competition on a global scale that involves in 2010 more than 60 countries - including Portugal.

The game rules are simple. Freedom is almost complete and sufficient to take only one who has a special talent to touch the ball. There are no age limits and everyone is fighting a unique competition where there is no distinction of sexes. Once registration is complete, through the official website www.redbullstreetstyle.com, candidates are initially called for a national qualification (February 20 in LX Factory, in Lisbon, with mandatory attendance at the place between 10 am and 12). This qualification will select the top 16 who will have access to the national final (6 March in LX Factory, in Lisbon, at 3 pm). The final will find the Portuguese representative to the grand final of South Africa (April 2010).

As in the football field, hands and arms cannot be used to control the ball. The contest runs a scheme where pairs can show their skills over a period of three minutes (passing the ball to his opponent in every twenty seconds). In this battle - which happens within a 6 metre circumference - the jury will evaluate the technique, skill, ball control and creativity in harmony with the music, selected by a DJ.

The latest edition of the Red Bull Street Style took place in 2008 after 138 qualifying sessions in 44 countries and led to Sao Paulo - Brazil - the best of the best. The evaluation of the finalists has always involved great stars of the soccer world, with names that do not require presentations: Bebeto, Falcão and Edgar Davids. Davids is still strongly linked to the project and is considered the world's great ambassador of freestyle football.

The Frenchman Arnaud "Séan" Garnier will be in South Africa to defend the title he won in Brazil and already warns; "I have trained many new tricks and I will give everything to win the title!"
