RED BULL STREET STYLE AMBASSADOR MAKES HIS WAY THROUGH KZN
Red Bull Street Style Ambassador, Chris Njokwana, is still on his trip around the country performing at the Red Bull Street Style roadshows. He’s in KwaZulu Natal at the moment, so we gave him a call to find out what’s happening in Durban and to chat about how the roadshows have been going.
“So far the roadshows been great. The weather’s been a bit iffy, not what I expected from Durbs, but luckily it hasn’t stopped the crowds from turning up.” They have visited a lot of varsity campuses this week and next week they’re hitting the townships, which Chris is really looking forward to, “We’ve seen some good talent so far, but I think the townships are going to be crazy man.”
While they were on a campus in Westville, they even got to hang out at a five aside varsity soccer tournament, “It was awesome. Just hanging with the students and seeing them play. There is a lot of talent here.”
Chris is missing his earlier travel buddy, Mzu Madela, but he is in good company with his new travel companion, The General. An expert freestyler himself, The General is actually competing in the KwaZulu Natal Regional Qualifier in Durban on the 11th of October.
“Hanging with The General is crazy,” Chris tells us, “it adds a different vibe to the roadshows. He speaks the local language, so he’s connecting with the crowds. We just go crazy man, we just have fun. The crowds are loving it.”
The General is also enjoying hanging with Chris, “Yoh, yoh, yoh we’re having a great time! Chris is a good friend, I like travelling with him.” We ask The General if he’s nervous for the Regional Qualifier after seeing the talent that’s out there, “I’m going to work hard; I’m not scared, but I’m going to have to work hard, do my best. We’ll see.”
Check back on Wednesday to find out more about the KZN roadshow
