IT IS ALL ABOUT THE FREESTYLE FOOTBALL:
Red Bull Street Style… On the look for a talent to compete in Brazil
Red Bull Street Style will make its way for the first time in Oman on September 18 at Muscat for the finals, where around 185 contestants will compete to participate at the Grand Finale of Red Bull Street Style in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
This unique football competition aims at finding the best freestyle footballer in Oman.
Two qualifier rounds took place in various locations across Oman prior to the finals. Nizwa was the first round where 7 participants were qualified; and Sohar was the second where 8 contestants were selected.
3 minutes, 2 players, 1 ball: In each “battle”, two players square off in a one-on-one duel against each other. They take alternating 20-second turns with the ball, using their time to show-off the best of their artistic moves to the sounds of break-dance and hip-hop music.
Using the rules of the game, the event will be held with a panel of three judges looking for the following elements: control/technical skills, style and creativity. There are no limits; other than the standard prohibition on the use of hands and a requirement that the ball and performer stay within a 7-metre wide (27-foot) competition area.
The Winner will be the person who does the best tricks using imagination, balance and athletic moves while keeping control with the soccer ball. Great ball control is essential. Creativity and stylish finesse are vital for success.
From Oman to Chile, from Japan to the US, 49 nations from across the globe will enter in a friendly battle to find the world’s best freestyle footballer in 2008. Red Bull Street Style will bring together the most talented football wizards from all four corners of the planet.
Superstars including Diego Maradona, Ronaldino, David Beckham or Zinédine Zidane have already used the world’s best football leagues as a stage to demonstrate some of the tricks possible with a good feel for the ball and the right technique. However, at Red Bull Street Style, regardless of where the participants are from, all of the freestyle footballers competing are experts in their field and could even teach professional football players a trick or two.
This event is a head to head battle and addresses football lovers from the age of 14 to 30. To participate in this unique event, Street Stylers are invited to register now on www.redbullstreetsyle.com.
