COLOMBIA IN THE RED BULL STREET STYLE WORLD FINALS

Christian Armando Mayorga Hoyos will represent Colombia in the Red Bull Street Style World Finals in South Africa

Thousands of spectators came together in Downtown Bogota’s Parque Nacional to witness the national final of Red Bull Street style 2010 in Colombia. Only the best freestyle soccer players in the country were present to battle for the title and a spot in the World Final which will take place in South Africa during the month of April.

Christian dazzled the crowd with unique style, technique and ability, displaying tricks like the Atw, Htw, Tatw, Sole Stall, Neck Stall, head stall, new shit, and cross over, among others that showed the perfect mix between man and ball. His routine was accompanied by rhythm and great coordination with the music, and that led to great admiration from all the judges, battle after battle.

“This was the first step on the way to my main goal which is winning the world title”, Said Mayorga.
The Bogota qualifying stage of the competition began to the rhythm of DJ Boggie Roc and narrator Ricardo Perez. 55 participants engaged in one on one battles in search of the finals. However, only Christian was able to overcome every obstacle and made it to the national final as the representative of the capital city.

Break, funk and hip hop sounds were present during every battle. The three minute duels which gave each player 20 second turns were full of great style, excitement, and creativity which led to crowd-pleasing tricks.
Tension was very present amongst the four national finalists: Sebastian Ortiz from Medellín, Johann Hernandez of Bucaramanga, Jhon Maldonado from Barranquilla and Christian Mayorga from Bogota. The crowd demanded great tricks and movements through continuous applause and local supporters cheered for their favorites.

A draw decided the matchups and the first to compete were Sebastian Ortiz and Johann Hernandez, who gave it their all and the winner was Sebastian. Next up on the stage were Jhon Maldonado and Christian Mayorga and Christian came out on top.
The two finalists definetly showed why they are the best in Colombia, showing off impecable tricks and the stage simply became too small for the great creativity and quality shown by the two players in the Red Bull Street Style national finals, Colombia.

The final decision was tough. However, at the end it was Christian who received the greatest ovation and the judges decided to give the title to this young man who showd his passion and will to represent Colombia at all times, and was crowend Red Bull Street Style National Champion 2010.

A panel of judges, made up of soccer experts like Caracol Tvs Ricardo Orrego, Fernando Molina of Millonarios team soccer and Leonardo Duque, the director of futbolred.com were in charge of the decision, evaluating ball control, creativity and unique style.

For Christian the competition is only beginning. The greatest challenge of his life awaits him and he will have to prepare for the freestyle soccer world final in Sout Africa 2010. Red Bull Street style has set a goal of uniting more than 40 freestyle soccer stars from all around the world under the same roof to show a new and innovating sport to the crowd and the world. Only one will be crowned world champion and Christian will go for the title as Colombia’s best hope.
