TICKET SALES GO LIVE FOR INTERNATIONAL STREET BATTLE

On Tuesday 6 April ticket sales go live for the 2010 World Final of Red Bull Street Style. When the best freestyle footballers from 60 countries descend on Cape Town for the event, spectators can prepare themselves for head-to-head battles between the most skilled freestyle tricksters from across the planet.

After over 200 qualifying tournaments featuring more than 5000 would-be champions, the countdown is now well and truly on to the World Final of Red Bull Street Style 2010 and the rules are simple: 3 minutes, 2 players, 1 ball.

The 2010 World Final of Red Bull Street Style will see the best freestyle footballers divided into groups for a two-day qualification phase, where they will compete against the other ballers in their group in head-to-head battles for a ticket to the final round. Each battle follows the same format: 3 minutes, 2 players, 1 ball, with each freestyler having 20 seconds to impress the judges – amongst them former Juventus, AC Milan and Barcelona star Edgar Davids – before passing the ball back to his competitor within those 3 minutes. The top two from each group will progress to the Last 16 stage, where they will battle it out for the title Red Bull Street Style World Champion.

South Africa will be represented by Johannesburg’s, Kamal "Kamalio" Ranchod, our 2009 Red Bull Street Style champ. When asked why he thought he was a worthy champion, Kamalio had this to say: "I believe that continuous improvement is better than delayed perfection," he said. "I am always training, and when I train, I try to figure out new moves and polish old ones. I do what it takes to become a better freestyler - it is all about practising style and moves."

The Final will take place in Cape Town on the 28 April on the Grand Parade in front of the Castle. Tickets will be available from 6 April 2010 at Shoprite/Checkers, www.computicket.com or 083 915 8000. Tickets are limited so early booking is essential.
