OFFICIAL RULES WORLD FINAL 2010

Red Bull Street Style’s rules are easy as 3-2-1: three minutes, two players, and one ball form the battleground, in which Control, Creativity, and Style are the elements – voted by a jury – that crown the winner.

Ballers compete in one-on-one battles held on a special stage, seven meters in diameter, and need to alternate ball possession anytime before every 20 seconds while displaying their most wicked ball tricks to the rhythm of music to impress the judges, beat their rival and move on to the next round. The baller is encouraged to pass before the 20 seconds… KEEP IT MOVING!

It’s all fair game during those 180 seconds, except using the hands. An acceptable amount of arm use is allowed, but the hands can only be used to stop a ball going out of control from the opposition, or to initiate a manoeuvre/ trick. “Body on Ball” is when the athlete stands, sits or dances on the ball. This is also acceptable in the 2010 edition of the world finals, but a limited amount is encouraged. No foreign objects can be integrated into the routine; it’s only the ball!
Any infringements of the rules will be considered by the judges in their vote, and will work against your overall result.

The world finals will be played with a MONTA ball with the following specifications (ball has been produced based on ballers’ feedback from global qualifiers): FISFA Size 4.5 (circumference not less than 64cm and max 67cm) - between official Fifa size 4 and 5. Denim cover. Weight is heavier than the current temporary balls (used in the national qualifiers) for better control (between 430gm - 490gm). Sphericity, this ball is rounder compared to temporary ball. Bounce is traditional bounce comparable to a traditional soccer ball.

We will secure that each finalist gets the ball already some days/ weeks ahead of the world final for best possible preparation.

PERMISSION FOR PARTICIPATION
Definitive starting permission can be made dependent on a positive health check by Competition Physician.
Event organiser has the right to refuse participation in the above mentioned event at any time to any participant for any reason.

CONTEST FORMAT
After a training day and the group draw, the qualification rounds will take place on 2 days (April 26th and 27th) bringing the total number of finalists down to 16 ballers for the very last show down on April 28th, 2010.

Qualification Rounds/ Group Battles – Official Board All participants are drawn into groups (final number of groups will be defined once final number of participants is fixed = by February 28, 2010 the latest!); within these groups, all ballers will battle against each other; the 2 ballers with the most victories within the group proceed to the World Final.

Please Note:
The 16 best players will be seeded in ahead of the world final event; modus for pre-seeding/ criteria for pre-selection will be communicated in the next Post It. Pre-seeded players will be drawn into the Qualification Rounds groups from a separate bowl. This pre-selection is simply an effort to ensure the event is structured in a way to find the best ballers for the final.

Qualification Modus**
1st decisive: number of “wins”
2nd decisive: number of votes (style, creativity, control)
3rd decisive: result of battle against each other

Judging
* There will be three judges judging the group battles; each judge is judging one of the three elements of the game: Control – Creativity – Style.

** If two ballers have the same number of wins within one group, the baller with the higher number in votes is the winner; if two ballers have the same number of wins and the same number of votes, the winner of their respective “battle” is the winner.
