The countdown has begun for the 2018 World Final of the planet’s premier freestyle football tournament: Red Bull Street Style! This year’s decisive event will be hosted on November 22nd in the iconic Hala Gwardii venue, a former boxing arena in the centre of Warsaw (Poland). Competitors from more than fifty nations will battle out head-to-head in an attempt to become the 2018 Red Bull Street Style world champions.
Red Bull Street Style is celebrating its first decade of existence this year —and not a single freestyle football star wants to miss this unique anniversary! Male athletes from all around the globe are currently competing for a spot in the World Final in their national qualifiers, with countries such as the UK, France, Germany, Brazil, Argentina and Italy still to choose their champions. In the women’s tournament, meanwhile, the very best athletes are competing to secure a spot in Warsaw through a global online qualifier.
Red Bull Street Style aims to find the best overall freestyle footballer in the world. The sport is all about blending unique creativity with extraordinary skills: individual athletes express themselves by executing breathtaking tricks with a ball in a head-to-head competition. The tournament format —three minutes, two players, one ball— is designed to put equal weight to all sides of the equation, and thus only the most creative, technically gifted and stylish male and female players will be crowned Red Bull Street Style world champions.
The 2018 World Final promises to be the best of all time, with the longest list of countries involved and only the most skilful athletes on stage. In the men’s event, the Argentinean hero Carlos ‘Charly’ Iacono will need to give his best to retain the title he claimed in London in 2016; in the women’s tournament, the French freestyle legend Mélody Donchet will have the chance to add her fifth world title in a row —but this time, the competition will be fiercer than ever!
As a bonus, a mysterious football star will feature in the judging panel of the World Final! Stay tuned to the Red Bull Street Style and World Freestyle Football Association channels to discover who will join the exclusive list of judges, which included legends such as Gary Neville, Fabio Cannavaro or Edgar Davids in former editions.
