Here is your Red Bull Street Style women’s lineup for 2019

20/08/2019

After two weeks of intense online battles, the judges have made their decisions in Round 2 of the Women’s Qualifier for the Red Bull Street Style World Final 2019. While Men’s Qualifiers continue across the globe, the women’s lineup is now complete, and seven standouts from four continents will try to steal the crown from defending titleholder Aguska Mnich of Poland at the World Final in Miami, Florida, USA on November 14-15. At stake: the official World Championship of Freestyle Football.

Aiming to crown the best overall freestyle football player, the Red Bull Street Style World Final is the planet’s most important freestyle football tournament, and Round 2 of the Women’s Qualifier delivered an explosion of creativity, technical skills and style. After the expert judges, all freestyle football (soccer) pros appointed by the WFFA, narrowed down a field of 31 candidates in Round 1, the 14 remaining female stars squared off for Round 2: head-to-head showdowns that previewed the format of the upcoming live World Final with online battles.

As the reigning queen of freestyle, Poland’s Mnich automatically has a berth in Miami. The seven Round 2 winners who will be fighting to take the title from her are:

Laura Biondo (Venezuela)

Yoanna Dallier (France)

Laura Dekker (the Netherlands)

Mélody Donchet (France)

Yulin Liu (China)

Lucia Kevická (Slovakia)

Caitlyn Schrepfer (USA)

The news sets up the tantalizing possibility of a battle between Poland’s Mnich and France’s Donchet. One of the biggest names ever in women’s freestyle, Donchet won two consecutive Red Bull Street Style World Finals before Mnich grabbed the title in 2018, and the Frenchwoman is determined to reclaim the trophy. But the home field advantage will certainly go to the USA’s Schrepfer, a Californian who is one of the top-ranked women in the world, as well as to Venezuela’s Laura Biondo, who has captured titles on the world, Latin American and European stage and is currently based right in Florida’s “Magic City.”

''I just qualified for my sixth Red Bull Street Style Style World Final, which will happen here where I live in Miami!” exclaimed an overwhelmed Biondo, who first became involved with Red Bull Street Style in its initial 2008 World Final. “Words can’t describe what I feel. This was my hardest and most emotional qualification!''

And that’s only the beginning. The entire women’s lineup is packed with powerhouse athletes. After being wowed by what she saw as a Round 2 judge, Hungary’s Kitti Szász, a two-time Red Bull Street Style World Final winner herself, said, “For Miami, I expect the best level and tightest battles ever in the history of female freestyle. I am really looking forward to it!”

The North American debut of the Red Bull Street Style World Final will take place at Miami’s popular
RC Cola Plant venue, with on-site qualification on Thursday, November 14 and the battles that will decide the World Championship on Friday, November 15, 2019. In the meantime, stay up-to-date with Men’s Qualifier results and all the news at redbullstreetstyle.com and on WFFA social channels.
